A Taste Of The Riviera At Rivea

Rivea is the latest London venture from the renowned Alain Ducasse, located within the Bulgari Hotel, the Knightsbridge restaurant serves French and Italian plates in a contemporary and vibrant setting.

Popular with locals and hotel guests alike, Rivea exudes glamour; the chic interiors and immaculately dressed staff compliments the relaxed ambience of the restaurant. Set against a backdrop of coastal blue and mahogany tones, the dining room occupies the basement floor whilst a trendy cocktail bar is upstairs.

The seasonally changing menu champions French and Italian plates and takes inspiration from Ducasse's travels in the regions of Italy and Provence. Best served shared, the menu is devised of starters, larger plates, little bites and desserts, I’d suggest ordering around 4-5 dishes per person for an evening meal.

Quite literally a taste of the Riviera, one can expect the likes of seasonal vegetables cooked in a cocotte to start, I'd recommend trying the gamberoni, squid, and cuttlefish, it comes served with crispy vegetables and borage, expertly done, the fish is tasty and complements the vegetables well.

Other highlights of the menu include the signature must-try crispy socca crepes and the torta pie. A section of the menu is also devoted to pasta, and I normally order the potato, sage and parmesan gnocchi for the table, it's light enough to have as an alternative to starter or is nice as a second course.

The Rivea plates are the larger portions and again, it's best to pick two or three to share. The meat options tend to be popular and I normally go for the rib and saddle of lamb, cooked to perfection, it melts in the mouth and comes served with a herb pesto which gives the flavour a nice kick.

Rivea boasts an extensive wine list alongside the exquisite food, the wines have been picked from the southern regions of France and northern regions of Italy, and guests can choose to have wine served by the glass, carafe or Jeroboam.

Rivea is open daily 12pm to 2.30pm for lunch and between 6.30pm and 10.30pm for dinner. There isn’t a dress code but I’d say to be prepared to dress up whilst looking dressed down.
