The Iconic Shepherd's Of Westminster Reopens

Shepherd's Of Westminster has recently reopened and the iconic restaurant is now better than ever before. Situated on Marsham Street, Shepherd's sits proudly amongst the fabulous apartments of Marsham Court and is one of Westminster's hidden gems.

Over the years, this legendary haunt has played host to a whole array of politicians and office workers alike, many of whom were known to frequent Shepherd's (and still do) almost as though it was a second home.

Since the rebirth, head chef Paul Croasdale, formerly of Berners Tavern has reinvented the menu along with the likes of Owen Williams amongst a staff of star studded chefs. Taking inspiration from classic British cuisine, one can expect starters to range from a beetroot salad to the very popular chicken liver parfait which comes served with a treacle brioche.

Indian Fine Dining at Benares

Benares isn't quite like any other Indian restaurant, since 2003 this stylish haunt has sat proudly in the heart of Mayfair’s Berkeley Square. The brainchild of Atul Kochhar, Benares has retained a Michelin star since 2007 and offers diners a modern take on Indian fine dining set against an elegant backdrop.

Atul Kochhar was originally born over India and took rise to fame when he moved to London in 1994 to open Tamarind. By 2001 he had won his first star as head chef at the famed restaurant, he left in 2002 and started his own venture in 2003 by opening Benares.

Moving away from the stereotype of an Indian restaurant, Benares is in a league of it's own. The restaurant and bar are actually upstairs and the decadent interior exudes old school glamour. A staircase leading into the main bar is overlooked by a main water feature and this is a centrepiece of the entrance hall and lounge area.

Burgers With a Flair at Big Fernand

Given it's huge success over in France (8 restaurants have opened since 2012) it was only a matter of time before Big Fernand landed in the UK. The unique concept of combining French gastronomy with the classic hamburger is the brainchild of founders Steve Burggraf, Alexandre Auriac and Guillaume Pagliano.

Originally launched in Paris, Big Fernand is a workshop giving diners the ability to order bespoke burgers cooked to their exact requirements. The Parisian affair brings a sense of sophistication to the fast food burger industry which is becoming increasingly popular in Central London with the arrival of new mid market burger chains.

The Albany's Fresh New Look

I'd been eagerly anticipating the revamp of The Albany for a while now. The charming pub sat on the corner of Great Portland Street has become a landmark in it's own right and has always been a haunt for the locals and office workers alike.

Since reopening the pub has been given a makeover and its interior is now slightly more modernised whilst keeping with its traditional cosy feel. Plush chandeliers adorn the ceilings of the main pub floor and tones of blue and grey throughout make it feel vibrant and stylish.

A whole new floor has been introduced in the basement cleverly named 'The Other Place'. Currently a little gem to those in the know, the vibe downstairs is old school hip and trendy. Think concrete walls with music posters and and neon lights and this hidden underground space comes to mind. A more intimate setting than upstairs, small booth seating makes this a great shout to catch up with friends too.

Situated on the 28th floor of the London Hilton Park Lane, Galvin at Windows offers stunning panoramic views of the London skyline. The Michelin starred restaurant has been established since 2006 and offers French haute cuisine with menus designed by Chef Patron Chris Galvin and Head Chef Joo Won.

From the moment you enter the elegant world of Galvin's you are immersed into a world of 1930's glamour which is captivated throughout the interior of the bar and dining space. With Fred Sirieix as the general manager, it's no surprise that Galvin's is renowned for it's unrivalled service and the restaurant was even featured in it's own documentary back in 2012 focusing on the hospitality of the business.

Japanese Dining at Chisou

Chisou isn't quite like the other Japanese restaurants London has become so well known for, whilst the typical theme is now Asian Fusion, Chisou stands as the only fine dining restaurants to offer truly authentic Japanese cuisine.

Now with outposts in both Knightsbridge and Mayfair, Chisou's concept of expertly prepared food in unpretentious yet stylish surroundings can become addictive. This simplistic approach to what has become a highly gimicked industry is the brainchild of founder David Leroy, his vision is translated through the natural woods and colour palettes throughout both restaurants creating an air of simplicity.

The menu itself is a celebration of classic Japanese dishes served at their best, expect an array of sushi, sashimi and Tempura with signature dishes such as tako usuzukuri and wagyu steak served with foie gras truffle.
